Orasay
The gentle hues and comfortable cushions at Orasay create a welcoming atmosphere, further enhanced by the noise-dampening reclaimed wooden boards that adorn the ceiling. The art decorating the space, courtesy of Jackson's mother, Kate Boxer, adds to the restaurant's charm, presenting it as a captivating local dining spot.
The restaurant draws its name and culinary inspiration from the small island in Scotland's Outer Hebrides, a place ingrained in Jackson's childhood memories through family vacations. Upholding a rich family legacy in the gastronomic world, Jackson navigates the culinary landscape with an impressive heritage; his grandmother Arabella was a respected food writer, his father Charlie runs the Italo delicatessen in Bonnington Square, and his brother Frank, established Frank's Café and Campari bar in Peckham.
Orasay, Scotland
This strong background not only fortifies the foundation of Orasay, but actually is evidence to think about how a chef from a culinary family can take inspiration but also what they have to overcome to present their own version of a restaurant.
